Professional Reflection on Capstone Project and Experience in Healthcare Administration Program

Essay Instructions:

Capstone Component 2: Professional Reflection

For the second and final component of your capstone, you will write an essay in which you discuss the process and outcomes of this project and your overall Healthcare Administration Program journey and experiences. You will also speak more specifically about how the project relates to your area of expertise/interest ( Healthcare Administration) and your desired career path. Writing reflectively allows you to think deeply and consciously about your experiences, which is invaluable to successful practice in the field of healthcare administration.

You should envision this component as a personal reflection on the capstone and your experience in the Healthcare Administration program as a whole. For instance, relative to the capstone, you could discuss what you did—or intended to do—and then consider what worked well, what challenges you faced, and what you would change or do differently to make your experience better. In reflecting on your time here at SNHU, you might discuss where you started, where you have ended up, where you see yourself going, etc. Note that this component is not about evaluating the capstone itself, but rather, your experience within the capstone project.

Some of the issues to address in this final component of this capstone may include, but are not limited to:

Overall, what was your capstone experience like?

Reflect on the significance of the capstone in relation to your own experience at SNHU.

How will you relate cultural competence or maintain cultural principles in your profession?

How does your application of interpersonal skills and collaborative processes relate to your professional goals?

How will you promote continuous healthcare quality improvement in your professional life?

Professional Reflection
The capstone experience is meant to push learners to synthesize their experience and knowledge from their time at SNHU. The experience gave me a lot of understanding of my skills and shortcomings as a student transitioning into an occupational setting, and it proved interesting and challenging. As I finished the capstone, I discovered I had strong areas inside myself, including my planning, research, and writing abilities. I had a lot of confidence in my capacity to efficiently acquire information and compile it in a way that met the capstone's requirements. The elements of this experience that I found to be difficult and that gave me insight into opportunities to further my skill development had to do with the execution strategy. Despite having a theoretical understanding of how the implementation process should work and how to evaluate its effectiveness, I have no practical experience putting programs or policies into action.
Regarding my time at SNHU, the capstone project was crucial to my college experience. The capstone focuses on the learner's capacity to develop a plan to implement a policy or program from inception through assessment by using the cumulative ideas and expertise acquired throughout their studies at SNHU, in contrast to other courses that are evaluated primarily on involvement and effort. The capstone is a big chance for the experience that will offer an overview of a healthcare administrator's future responsibilities and function.
As I pursue my studies further and begin my career as a healthcare management professional, I will be able to look back on the capstone project. I will be particularly mindful of the skills I have learned in conducting research, analyzing healthcare-related problems, coming up with solutions, considering relevant policies and laws, and understanding the human element in administration in my future educational and professional lives. The skills I learned in study, research, and problem-solving are highly appreciated in this field and serve as a foundation for the qualities needed to succeed as a healthcare professional.
Administrators face challenges when it comes to managing care, collaborating with community organizations, controlling personnel, and honoring the laws and guidelines governing the administration of an institution in the volatile and quickly evolving environment of the healthcare industry. Due to their close connection to decision-making processes that affect the well-being of employees and patients a...
