Don’t you think an e-trained nurse will easily adapt to the transformational leadership which is a combination of many theories? Will implementation of transformational leadership not lead to amoral self-promotion by leaders? How possible do you think it is to implement the transformational theory of leadership? What are the consequences of the transformational theory?
As a personal opinion, I think transformational leadership is not adequate to some hospitals. The components of transformational leadership are; idealized influence; inspirational motivation; intellectual stimulation; and individual consideration. These can only be implemented in a well-established hospital (Tomey, 2009). Therefore I suppose that the theory is only effective for well-established hospitals. The theory by itself is a combination of many theories. This means that an e-trained nurse may lack enough exposure and experience. From experience, the leaders concerned can at times try to promote themselves since they have the mandate to do so (Huber, 2013). This challenges the recognition given to the transformational leadership as an essential component in healthcare organizations.

As an issue of concern, do you think transformational leadership is the only theory that can accommodate the complexity in healthcare? Is there a probability that followers can be manipulated by leaders? In case the followers are misled, are there chances that they lose more than they gain?
My personal opinion is that the efficiency of transformational leadership in healthcare needs to be reviewed. One of the components of the theory is idealized influence. To implement this, the leaders can do all it can take them to gain support from the followers. This means that a charismatic leader with undesirable character can be easily confused for a transitional leader. To avoid this, the theory should be reviewed citing the steps to be followed in determining who is a transformational leader (McDaniel & Wolf, 1992). My idea is that some critical reviews can be made on the transformational theory to better the services in healthcare. From experience on the theory, some leaders a...
