Since COVID-19 surfaced on the face of the earth, many people have been affected in different ways. Commonly, the most vulnerable people to be infected are the elderly and people with existing chronic diseases. Once the infection gets to the body, the infected person will develop fever, tiredness, and dry cough, mild to moderate illnesses that can be treated without hospitalization. However, when the body fails to fight these symptoms or mild illnesses, the condition grows so severe that it can cause breathing problems, which eventually leads to death. Over 1 million deaths have been recorded globally, and millions continue to get new infections every day.
As scientists continue to find possible treatment for COVID-19, the disease has so far harmed the economy. The pandemic upended the American economy and the entire world, causing a human toll and closure of major economic sectors. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been severe that it is uncertain if there will be some growth in the American economy. The COVID-19 pandemic did not just affect the economy, and it has also resulted in changes in the legal landscape. Governors have issued several executive orders and within the federal CARES Act that impacts local businesses and citizens. One of the orders includes social distancing and wearing facemasks, which directed every person to practice social distancing and wearing facemasks when outdoors except when exercising, drinking, or eating (Abouk & Heydari, 2021).
