My experience in the pediatric department was the most exciting because I learned much relevant information. Rotations facilitated familiarizing with the healthcare facility and the staff that attended to patients in all departments. The collaboration was the main factor in the process, and all the staff had to share relevant information to ensure that they helped improve patient outcomes in the facility. Dealing with children in a healthcare facility may be challenging because of communication barriers that lead to a lack of understanding. Without collaboration, especially from experienced doctors and nurses, misdiagnosis cases may increase, thus harming the facility's reputation (Fallucco et al., 2017). At one point, an intern had not inquired about a patient's history, and he administered drugs to an infant that was allergic to aspirin. The case almost escalated to death, and the whole department had to be restructured to ensure that senior nurses supervised all interns.
