Offering the best hospital experience for sick patients demands coordination and communication between all healthcare professionals. The cooperative approach is referred to as an interprofessional team. Through this type of collaboration, nurses, doctors, and several other stakeholders work together to offer the highest quality care. Interprofessional teamwork allows different healthcare professionals to collaborate to attain one common goal with different knowledge, skills, and talent.
My Role as a Member of an Interprofessional Team
As a member of an interprofessional team, I must work in partnership with carers and patients to make better decisions. My roles include developing care coordination and patient-centered solid care competencies, improving critical thinking, reducing stress-induced work burnout, and ensuring that resources and responsibilities are shared, resulting in reduced medical errors, fast and efficient treatment, and reduced healthcare costs. Therefore, interprofessional team members must communicate patient's needs, respect and trust different carers, and understand existing professional roles.
