Personally, I have not struggled with obesity, and none of the people closest to me have. However, I have been a first-hand witness of how obesity affects people’s health as well as their emotional stability. First of all, being obese makes one susceptible to heart diseases, stroke, diabetes, cancers as well as high blood pressure. These conditions are all connected to being obese, and aside from the above health issues, I have also encountered discriminatory remarks that are aimed at obese people. The society has become an area where being different is a crime, and obese people are finding it difficult to exist among other people particularly if they are abusive. Some individuals have been depressed to the point that they are suicidal and the fact that the society entertains such is sickening.
