Introduction
Unlike in the past days, the modern world is characterized by the use of technologies in almost all aspects of life. One of the main reasons for the use of technical systems is because of their efficiency and effectiveness as compared to manual work. Their level of accuracy has made it more admirable and have boosted its utilization in almost every sector of the economy. The healthcare sector, just like any other aspects of the economy, has also been affected greatly by the implementation of technology. These systems have helped not only improve efficiency in health care management, but also advance the goals of a positive patient positive outcome with the utilization of minimal resources and being more effective. Also, the utilization of these systems saves time, enhances effective diagnosis of patients and enhances the safety of the health care providers, unlike in the past days. This research seeks to come up with a nursing informatics system, identifying multiple stakeholders involved, citing and explaining the patient outcomes as well as determining the technologies required to implement the plan.
Health care is a critical aspect of life. Therefore, various strategies should be put in place to ensure that health care is enhanced (Chang et al., 2015). One of these ways is coming up with a technology-enabled project to make operations of health care more effective and efficient. My project involves coming up with a nursing informatics application that can be used to improve patient outcomes. The form is e-Hospital. This is an application that is intended to work like an online portal that can be used by patients to acquire various health services. Through this application different people can avail online services such as registration and appointment, paying of fees, viewing diagnostic results as well as checking the availability of blood in various blood banks in hospitals (Lin et al., 2018).
The application works on an Online Registration System where appointments in hospitals can be made. First, it provides dashboard reports whereby people interested in receiving services can choose their preferences. It also provides appointment slots through online booking for patients. The application is easily accessible in such a way that the user can easily see the available slots for appointments in the hospital.
Stakeholders Impacted by the Project
There are various stakeholders impacted by this application. First, it is the nurses. Through the use, paperwork is reduced because patients can file their data in the portal hence no need of nurses to do so. Also, it helps nurses to quickly identify patients with critical conditions, thus helping them to save lives faster. There are many areas in the nursing arena where technology is being actively utilized as a driver of change. The main areas of nursing that are experiencing change as a result of technology are clinical practice, education, and practice. Through technology and the e-hospital application, nurses can equip their knowledge more because they can research more. The continuous transformation of the health care field through the introduction of new technology tools has contributed to the need for nurses to stay current with new trends and keep track of what is on the horizon. The ability and skills to use advanced modern technology attainment help to deliver safe and qualified client care. It plays a major role in reducing medical errors, simplifying and sharing of accurate and the latest information to facilitate health care progress by analyzing diagnostic and laboratory results. Another group of stakeholders involved in the project is the patients. These are the significant people who are necessitating the development of the application. It should ensure that its benefits outweigh the challenges. It must ensure that the services are easily accessible and of quality to the patients (Chang et al., 2015).
Professionals are other people impacted in the project such as the medical practitioners who include nurses, doctors, physicians, and specialists. They range from people who procure the best e-Hospital application system, the installers of the project and the administrators of the project. These people are critical because they ensure that operations in the health sector are always ongoing by maintaining the systems (Mettler, 2016). These people have a strong understanding of information and technology systems, Including programming and data structures, a storage structure for data and information and communication technologies. The privacy and security of patient data when it is stored and transmitted is also at the top of their priority list. Depending on the size of the health care organization, health information technology specialists may take on different roles. In a small facility, they may need diverse technical knowledge and skills to work with the e-hospital application. In a large organization, the specialist would specialize in a certain set of workflows.
At the end of the day, these professionals ensure that electronic health data managed by staff is maintained and exchanged accurately and efficiently. Their work is extremely important because it drives improvements in patients to care and reductions in health care costs. Specialists usually handle the technical aspects of managing patient health information and also depending on their position they might build, implement and support electronic health records and other systems that sore patient-related data. They know what data is needed, where it is stored and how the data is used. Their work affects the quality of care tremendously. As they move up in the ladder, they become more involved in collaborating with other health care teams to drive improved outcomes, lowered costs and new developments in patient care (Chang et al., 2015). Another stakeholder involved is the government of the day. Every project before it is implemented must ensure that various fees and taxes are paid to the government to ensure all legal obligations are looked upon before implementation. The last stakeholder is the insurance company. This company provides security to the system by ensuring it. This means that in case of fire or theft the company can compensate the hospital by buying another system or application. They offer coverage against a lot of natural disasters like floods and fires. This means in case of fire, and the systems are destroyed, then the company always compensates the hospital. Also, they offer protection against costly incidences such as accidents caused by the system and injuries as well. Also, the insurance company protects against power outages. If the system is damaged and the lifespan is shortened, then the insurance company can provide refrigerator restocking provision.
