Nursing informatics is one of the newest yet most important fields integrated with healthcare delivery. It aids in the overall process of healthcare, whether it be in the actual provision of care, administration, or cost accounting, among others. In our own organization, Nursing Informatics is mainly supported with the use of both social and technological policies that aim to further increase the integration of these fields.
One of the central policies that help support nursing informatics is the heavy use of electronic-based systems in the provision of care. Our organization utilizes Electronic-medical Records, which must be regularly and accurately updated by the nursing professionals. These EMR records are also integrated within a system that determines other pertinent information like insurance eligibility.
