While the implementation plan prepares students to apply their research to the problem or issue they have identified for their capstone change proposal project, the literature review enables students to map out and move into the active planning and development stages of the project.
A literature review analyzes how current research supports the PICOT, as well as identifies what is known and what is not known in the evidence. Students will use the information from the earlier PICOT Statement Paper and Literature Evaluation Table assignments to develop a 750-1,000 word review that includes the following sections:
Title page
Introduction section
A comparison of research questions
A comparison of sample populations
A comparison of the limitations of the study
A conclusion section, incorporating recommendations for further research

Literature Review Nursing Shortage

The aim of my project is to examine whether we can come up with a solution to the shortage of nurses so that we can be able to eliminate medication errors in the healthcare system. The literature review examines various studies indicating the manner in which the reduction of nurse shortages can improve the quality of the healthcare accorded to patients. Therefore, according to the literature review, the employment of new nurse would play a substantial role in the eradication of medical errors because every nurse will have a few patients to attend to hence reducing the chances of providing the wrong diagnosis out of fatigue. As well, the implementation of certain technologies in the hospitals such as the GetWellNetwork would help in freeing up some time for the nurses to ensure that they have sufficient time to attend to patients without a hurry. All these actions require a lot of planning because they involve money and they will also bring a lot of changes in the hospital. The existing nurses ought to be prepared for the change so that it does not interfere with the manner in which they attend to their patients. Therefore, a comparison of various research questions, populations and the limitations of the study create room for further study.
One of the research questions was to examine the impacts of nursing retention in hospitals (Twigg, D., & McCullough, K. (2014). The main question of the study is how to reduce the nursing shortage in hospitals. These two research questions have a huge relationship in the fact that retaining nurses in the hospital would ensure that there is no shortage of nurses. Retaining the nurse would require the development of a safe working environment in the hospitals to keep the nurses motivated to report to work and attend to patients effectively (Redknap, Twigg, Rock & Towell, 2015).
Hospitals that have been using the GetWellNetwork report better patient care services as compared to the hospitals whereby record keeping is done manually. This means that the use of technology is creating extra time for nurses to focus on their patients. As well, large hospitals receive a lot of funding and, therefore, stand a chance to have better technology and more nurses as compared to small hospitals which do not also have a lot of patients to attend to. We can conclude that the course pf action will depend on the population characteristics of the hospital. Among such characteristics are the average number of patients visiting the hospital at a given time and the number of nurses available to attend to them. The smaller the ration of these characteristics, the better the healthcare services that the patients are bound to receive (Coventry, Maslin‐Prothero & Smith, 2015). The healthcare system of Canada has become a world class level and, the United States is working their level best to ensure that they reach such standards. There has been a controversy about the Obamacare act, but this is coming to an end.
Among the limitations of the study is the fact that the employment of new nurses is costly especially for the small health centers that do not have a reli...
