Menopause comes at different ages for women. What are the changes causing menopause, and what are the changes experienced after menopause?

Menopause occurs when a woman goes for 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. It is a natural phenomenon that marks the end of reproductive years. Often, menopause begins between the ages of 45 and 55. However, recent research is increasingly showing that it comes at different ages for women (Ceylan & Özerdoğan, 2015). In the years leading to this occurrence, women experience changes in their monthly cycles, vaginal dryness, and hot flashes, among other symptoms collectively referred to as perimenopause.
