1 What are your short and long-term career goals and how will this program prepare you for them?
My short-term career goals include: (a) developing critical thinking skills to be able to deliver high-quality care and (b) being employed as a family nurse practitioner (FNP) in a hospice center. The program offers consultation and critical thinking skills to allow me to build trusting relationships with patients by recognizing their needs, wants, and preferences. The program prepares me to be employed in a hospice center because I’ve gained crucial skills, including collaboration, leadership, direct clinical practice, evidence-based practice, and ethical decision-making capabilities. My long-term goals include: (a) to eliminate structural barriers to healthcare access among the marginalized communities within ten years and (b) achieving a leadership position in care delivery to augment care access for marginalized groups.
