These proteins play a substantial role in creating electrical signals in muscle cells and neurons, monitoring cell volume, and controlling the activities of ions into and out of the cells. Ion channels are also engaged in fast signaling incidences, particularly in impulsive cells, comprising muscle cells and neurons (Hutchings et al., 2019). When a ligand binds to the channel or a transformation in membrane ability occurs, ion channels can open or close, causing changes in ion flux across the membrane, which might activate downstream cellular reaction. Furthermore, most of the drugs target ion channels to control their activity.
