Explain how well your current work setting supports you and your colleagues in decision making.
For a nurse every other moment is a chance to make a crucial decision that has to be based on evidence. At every one time the nurses are always taking care of more than one patient, and their decisions have to be based on evidence otherwise the results could be fatal. Upholding the right nursing practices and patient satisfaction therefore is hinged on the ability of the nursing teams to make the right decision every other time. Technology changes rapidly and effects the rate of reaesrch information available, as such, current information becomes obsolete after a while (Anderson & Willson, 2008). This is also hinged to the fact that, there are numerous research findings that are being produced at any given time period. The rate of information update and the production of new results and publication of the finding thereof is not practically the complication. Rather it is the interpretation of these findings and their implication on the decision making process.
At the place of work, the decision making process is hampered by lack of a refined system of reference. Much of the information that exists is therefore not up-to-date. Although there has not been any major incidences that would incriminate the nurses as being under qualified, on the reference basis of inadequate information, the decision making process is painstakingly slow and oblique (Levin, Lunney & Krainovich-Miller, 2004). Sometimes the decision to implementing certain nursing practices, has to be collaborated between several nurses for purposes of accuracy. This aspect makes health care delivery poor and sometimes quite unsatisfactory, to both the patient and the nursing team.
