IT capabilities have made it easier to capture data and research evidence, which helps improve health outcomes and health care delivery (Catan et al., 2015). Evaluating how IT helps improve the quality of health care and the coordination of care helps determine IT capabilities best fit in different healthcare settings (Cresswell, Bates & Sheikh, 2017).
