Improving Patient Care and Outcomes
Each team member will create their own mind map of the patient services offered at the health care setting they selected in week one for their class sustainability initiative.
This will help you understand what a mind map is if you have never built one.

In your individual mind maps, you will want to identify which services are affected by your sustainability initiative and then brainstorm ways that the initiative will improve patient care and outcomes.
When you completed your map you will share it with the group.
Group Work:
As a group discuss each other’s initiatives and mind maps, provide feedback on potential successes or concerns for your sustainability initiative.
Individually:
After your discussion you will take the feedback and each of you will write an evaluation of how your sustainability initiative will improve patient care and outcomes and include your mind maps.
Group Work to turn in final assignment
The group will put everyone’s written evaluation and put it together into a cohesive document.
You can put the mind maps after each student’s evaluation or put all the mind maps in an appendix at the end of the document.

The VA’s EEF sustainability initiative outlined in my individual mind map has been largely successful in cost reductions, which has significantly contributed to more spending on Veteran care in the recent years. Through its four primary program areas including energy management, sustainable buildings, environmental management, and vehicle fleet management, this sustainability initiative has devised creative solutions for improving staff productivity while utilizing sustainable materials to improve patient outcomes.
