Asher, Corbett, & Hawke (2017) has studied different herbal supplements that are prevalent in the United States. Some of these include cranberries, Ginkgo Biloba, Asian ginseng, and curcumin.
The following are the pharmacodynamics of some of the drugs mentioned in this study: 1) Asian ginseng promotes the resistance of the body from unwanted stresses by acting as an antioxidant. However, the precise mechanism remains unknown; 2) The anti-inflammatory effect of ginkgo Biloba can be attributed its ability to antagonize the actions of platelet-activating factor (PAF).; and 3) Curcumin can inhibit cellular pathways resulting to its antioxidant properties (Asher, Corbett, & Hawke, 2017).
