A non-research article may be a scholarly article in the case where a scholar writes it of professionals in a particular field. My article is a research article because it gives the first account of a study that was carried out in a nursing home, using participants to collect data.
Article Summary
Introduction
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the extent to which different operational meanings of frailty predict falls and mortality at one year. The study targeted residents of a nursing home.
Method
The study involved 662 participants aged 83.2+8.99 years. 584 and 565 participants were monitored in one year for the occurrence of falls and mortality rates (Buckinx, Croisier, Reginster, Lenaerts, Brunois, Rygaert & Bruyere, 2018). This was done using their medical records. Clinical characteristics were collected by subjecting each of the patients to clinical examination. The mortality and falls were then predicted using the stepwise regression analysis.
Results
15.9% of the participants died, while 37.35% experienced a fall during the year. Being a man or diagnosed with sarcopenia marked the clinical characteristics associated with 1-year mortality. In addition, the falls were associated with elbow extensors, grip strength test, and the Tinetti test.
