Interventions and Applications Health Promotion Paper: Assesses knowledge and application of health promotion interventions and how to apply them to specific populations. Each student will compose a 2-3 page paper on how they would practically and realistically apply specific health promotion interventions to their own life/practice. The ANA Code of Ethics Provision 5 states that “the nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to promote health and safety, preserve wholeness of character and integrity, maintain competence, and continue personal and professional growth.

Health promotion takes diverse forms, including individual and population-based approaches. Healthcare providers often lead in implementing various strategies for optimizing the health of their patients. However, they also owe themselves a duty that incorporates promoting their health and safety. In this context, as a nurse, one should tailor the different procedures and programs to advance their health and preserve wholeness to ensure one remains in the best shape and condition to serve others. According to Melnyk et al. (2020), nurses and other healthcare providers face dynamic and complex work and personal-related challenges. These aspects threaten their physical and psychological health, requiring them to safeguard their health appropriately. Thus, this awareness underscores the importance of applying health promotion interventions such as mindfulness, physical activities, and nutrition and preventing alcohol abuse in improving my overall quality of life.
Mindfulness is a progressive intervention approach that can assist one in overcoming stressful work pressures. Galante et al. (2021) warn that burnout and stresses associated with nursing can increase a professional’s likelihood of suffering from major depression. As a result, the authors emphasize the need for these experts to take care of their health by embracing healthy lifestyles. Galante et al. (2021) demonstrate that one can introspect, focus, and meditate to ease their mind from the work strain. As a result, I will be integrating the various techniques for mindfulness, including stretching, yoga, meditation, and scanning my body’s health to improve my cognitive health status. Frequently implementing these strategies will ensure that the burnout does not adversely impact my health, leading to the emergence of diseases.
The second fundamental intervention that I will employ is exercise and nutrition. According to CDC (2022), consuming healthy meals and combining them with regular physical activities improves the health levels of a person. As a future healthcare provider, prioritizing my health using this strategy will enable me to remain active and alert when caring for my patients.
