My experience working at the VA hospital exposed me to vast knowledge on health information systems (HIS). I applied pre-acquired theoretical knowledge to real-time clinical practice. In addition, I was able to acquire valuable skills which will come in handy in my future professional endeavors. The HIS I learned are discussed in depth in this essay, including a description of each, how they work, and the decisions they help healthcare organizations make.
Computerized Patient Record systems (CPRs) contain important patient information about their health statuses, care processes and care components. CPRs exist to replace traditional patient paper charts. The system functions by allowing healthcare professionals to enter, review, and update relevant patient information. It is an electronic health record (EHR) and contains several applications, including CPRs. Vista works as an EHR and effectively enables scalability and data sharing. The system helps hospitals to make clinical decisions regarding patient care by allowing professionals to review and analyze patient data.
