Students will select a topic from HealthyPeople 2020 relevant to women’s health status of a pregnant or nonpregnant female client. Research and review the topic, current approaches to meeting this objective, and suggest approaches that a Family Nurse Practitioner can take.

Evaluate whether the interventions have or have not been successful.
Determine the stakeholders that may benefit from the interventions.
Propose clinical prevention education related to the selected objective to improve or maintain health
The scholarly paper should be in narrative format, 3 to 4 pages excluding the title and reference page.
Include an introductory paragraph, purpose statement, and a conclusion.
Include level 1 and 2 headings to organize the paper.
Write the paper in third person, not first person (meaning do not use ‘we’ or ‘I’) and in a scholarly manner. To clarify: I, we, you, me, our may not be used. In addition, describing yourself as the researcher or the author should not be used.
Include a minimum of three (3) professional peer-reviewed scholarly journal references in addition to HealthyPeople 2020 to support the paper (review in Ulrich Periodical Directory) and be less than five (5) years old.
APA format is required (attention to spelling/grammar, a title page, a reference page, and in-text citations).

The purpose of this study is to determine why women are more vulnerable to STDs and what interventions are effective in minimizing transmission and risks for the population. The topic chosen pertains to Sexually Transmitted Disease. The prevalence of STDs among the population happens due to deficiencies in proper sex education and poor quality and access to medical centers. STDs have been rising in the last decade due to global cultural change that alters people's sexual behavior, especially the youth. Women are a vulnerable population to STD's especially in communities that have poor education.
One of the objectives is to create a system for wider information dissemination and education about the factors contributing to higher risks of STDs and how STDs are transmitted.
This means that the state has a responsibility to do local research to study STDs' prevalence and epidemiology in their area. The government has to develop ways of addressing disparities and distribution of Vaccines and other health services for STD prevention. The policies need to be conducive to accessible health care by studying the demographics and collective behavior of a target population. (Mpondo, 2016)
This objective was chosen because it is a big step forward in STD prevention. With proper education, more population members can have essential knowledge that can minimize risks of STD infection. Many STDs are largely preventable in terms of activity and basic protection.
Information dissemination can largely benefit women. This is because a large percentage of the population affected by STDs are young people, especially women. If left untreated, STDs can lead to long-term health consequences, which is why it is important to focus on prevention. According to CDC, STDs can cause infertility, which makes adolescent girls and young women especially vulnerable to STDs. (Rabbitte & Enriquez, 2018)
In the USA, there are about 20 million reported cases of STI each year. About 50% of those are among adolescents aged 15-24 years old. It is estimated that 25% of sexually active adolescent women have a Sexually transmitted infection. The most common form of STD among women is Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) infection and human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. (Shannon & Klausner, 2018) In the last decade, there are higher STI rates in both males and females, but females are more vulnerable to the negative impacts of such diseases.
If more budget and more effort are put into STD knowledge dissemination, the number of new infections can be lessened, given that most STDs are largely preventable. It is important to focus on the Adolescent population because they are much more likely to be at risk for STIs from both behavioral and biological viewpoints. This population is less likely to seek access to sexual health services, and at the same time, more likely to engage in high-risk sexual behavior. (Subbarao & Akhilesh, 2017)
It is up to the health care service providers to create working systems that promote both education and access to essential medicine and protection for STDs. Many institutions are already making a big effort to eradicate or at least minimize STD prevalence. Some of the evidence-based and cost-effective interventions are:
* Studies on the epidemiology, the impacts of STIs, and context of new HIV prevention methods in reducing the incidence and prevalence, and negative impact of STI.
* Genetic and molecular research relevant to clinical progress in medicine production relevant to STDs, including microbiome and antimicrobial resistance analysis.
