Healing Hospital Name Course Tutor Date Introduction Traditional hospitals place an emphasis on curative methods when dealing with a patient. This means that medical attention is geared towards providing medicine to the patient and expecting that the disease will disappear. Although this approach has worked before, it has been recognized that there is more to the wellbeing of a patient apart from recovering from the illness physically. This knowledge inspired the development of a new approach to patients known as the healing hospital. The wellbeing of a patient is not only enhanced with medicines but also through emotional support. Healing means incorporating emotional support to the patient and ensuring that the patient is comfortable. A well prepared patient surrounded by other components such as love recovers from an illness better than a patient offered only medical help. The concept of a healing hospital encompasses various factors and also faces a myriad of challenges. Components of a healing Hospital Emotional care- Love The emotional well being of a patient is seen a vital aspect in improving his overall health. Healing hospitals embrace this concept by ensuring that the patient is surrounded by compassion and other emotions (Geimer-Flanders, 2009). Ensuring that the patient feels loved enables the patient to recover faster and have the will to heal. In such a setting, it is agreed that without spiritual healing, the physical wellbeing of a patient cannot be achieved. A combination of both aspects leads to improvement of the health of the patient (Young & Koopsen, 2010). The relatives of the patient are encouraged to visit the patient while the nurses handle the patient with respect, love and compassion. This leads to an overall improvement of health for the patient. This component is a significant aspect in the healing hospital and all people involved must be trained on how to enhance this development. Care for the patient, and family members, enhances the healing process. Furthermore, caregivers are encouraged to appreciate their work and be satisfied in order for them to be able to provide care to the patient. The healing approach considers all stakeholders in the improvement of the well being of the patient. 1st Timothy 4: 7 and 8 shows that although physical training is good, spiritual training fairs better (Cool Spring Baptist Church, 2012). Work and Technology Technology has enhanced many aspects of life such as communication and medicine. Healing hospitals embrace technology in order to enhance patient experience. The privacy of the patient is an important aspect that all hospitals must work hard to protect. Technology provides healing hospitals with an avenue through which they protect the privacy of the patient (Chapman, 2003). Efficiency is also an important part of the medical facility and technology enhances the delivery of services to the patient in many ways. The work designs reduce cost and improve the health of the patient. Technology, therefore, plays a crucial role in improving the patient and enabling hospital workers to fulfill patient requirements. Healing Environment The environment in which a patient is treated is of great importance to the wellbeing of the patient (Snyder & Lindquist, 2009). This component of the healing hospital enables the nurses to deal with the relatives of the patient in a manner that enhances healing. As such, the physical environment surrounding the patient is improved to ensure that the patient gets well. Without such an environment, it would be hard to convince the patient that care was being provided in such a facility. Such an environment is expected to relieve the patient of any negative energy that may hinder achieving full well being. Barriers to Healing Hospital Financial Challenges Res...
