Nursing Theory
I chose the Maternal Role Attainment Theory to guide my practice in offering services that are essential for enhancing women's health. The theory developed by Ramona Mercer provides fundamental guidelines for nurses to deliver appropriate medical interventions among women. The nurses focus on helping mothers to establish a lasting maternal identity. The theory can be employed during pregnancy and in postnatal care (Fouquier, 2013). Additionally, it is useful for adoption as well as foster mothers. With the help of the nurses using the model, mothers can develop an attachment with the kids, which is fundamental for the infants to form a bond with the parents (Noseff, 2014). Suggestively, the Maternal Role Attainment Theory is essential for the mother-child relationship as the children grow.
Goals and objectives
