Eighteen nurses working in teaching hospitals affiliated with the Qazvin, Shahid Beheshti, and Iran Universities of Medical Sciences.
Eighteen nursing managers from various hospitals.
40 nurses were contacted by phone, with eight (five
females; three males) agreeing to participate in the study
Sixteen nurse managers from various hospitals
Methods: Intervention/Instruments
Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, and analyzed using conventional content analysis.
Research was conducted using content analysis method
An exploratory qualitative descriptive approach was used.
Exploratory qualitative study that was conducted in 2013
Analysis

Concurrent analysis took place until data saturation was
reached throughout the interview process.

Key Findings
The three themes gotten from the data comprised
interpersonal skills, competency for career success, and personal abilities. The outcomes indicated that acquiring a various of skills is critical for career advancement.
Participants believed that working environment have two major roles in nurses’ career advancement including motivating and restricting roles.
Participants’ years
of experience in nursing ranged from three years to eigh-
teen years, with a mean of six years and three months
Participants’ experiences about implementing the Nurses’ Career Advancement Pathway fell into three main categories including: a) the shortcomings of performance evaluation, b) greater emphasis on point accumulation, c) the advancement-latitude mismatch.
Recommendations
Further studies ought to be conducted to explore various other factors that influence skills on nursing career advancement.
