A clinically valid and scientifically relevant quality measure or performance measure can help improve the overall environment of a hospital. If the doctors and nurses are encouraged to give their best and told that their performance is being evaluated on a regular basis, then they will help improve the quality of patient care. As of now, no credible, accountable and transparent method is available to determine whether a healthcare professional is performing his/her duties as per the standards maintained by the hospital or not. A coordinated strategy needs to be implemented to collect data, and to pinpoint the gap between the quality and efficiency across the healthcare industry (Rhodes et al., 2015).
