Differences Between Food Intoxication and Food Infection
Food intoxication is a result of consumption of toxins produced in food by bacterial growth.
Using the Online Library or the Internet, research about food intoxication and infection. Based on your research, respond to the following:
What are the differences between food intoxication and food infection? Explain this distinction in detail.
Provide at least three specific examples of each. Each example should include:
*The specific organism
*The disease and its symptoms
*Patient outcome if left untreated
Please use the APA guidelines to include in text citations
Please make sure!! General note on TII scores: When you submit your worksheet assignment, it is automatically evaluated by Turnitin for originality. The TII score must be below a 49% Thank you

Food Infection and Food Intoxication
Food infections occur when individuals consume food contaminated by infectious organisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, and toxins. Food contamination can happen during poroduction of food. The microorganisms in food contamination grow the hosts' intestinal tract, leading to infections (UNL, 2019). Food intoxication is caused by consuming food containing toxins created by bacteria that result in bacteria. In food intoxication, folks do not need to consume live bacteria.
Examples of Organisms and their Infections
Food Infection
Specific Organism
Symptoms
Patient Left Untreated
Listeriosis
Listeria monocytogenes
Diarrhea, vomiting, fever, nausea, and muscle aches (Weinstein, 2019).
Outcomes vary depending on the patients’ conditions, whether pregnant, elderly, or immunocompromised folks. Adverse cases might lead to the death of patients.
Salmonelloisis
Salmonella
Fever, chills, severe diarrhea, fatigue, and abdominal pains (CDC, 2019).
Can lead to dehydration of patients that can result in death.
Campylobacteriosis
Campylobacter jejuni
Muscle pain, bloody diarrhea, abdominal pains, nausea, and headache (WHO, 2020).
Diarrhea and nausea can last for a long time.
