Lesson Plan and Course Outline
As part of the lesson plan, there is a focus on defining the learning objectives, designing the teaching and learning activities, and assessment, which focuses on understanding. There was the specification of the learning objectives, and this is linked to the lesson planning and teaching strategies where there are learning objectives, the content, activities, and evaluation. There is a definition of objectives focusing on the aims to achieve with the classes and focus on changing behaviors and attitudes (Tambag, 2018). These objectives highlight the expectations and modifications during teaching, emphasizing the development of skills and knowledge to improve mental health. There are both general and specific objectives of the classes, and the content emphasizes knowledge and applying teaching-learning strategies to improve the effectiveness of the learning process.
To achieve the lesson plan's objectives, select appropriate content for that specific teaching context. As they are part of the process, the contents must be reviewed and altered whenever the need or a daily situation arises that requires this review. The lesson plan on knowledge of alcohol abuse and preventing alcoholism improves knowledge where learners are better placed to identify protective factors and improve mental health outcomes. There are substance-induced disorders and co-occurring mental disorders, and under the course outline, there is a focus on substance abuse and related disorders in the 9th week. In nursing management practice, nurses may encounter patients with mental health issues. Understanding the mental health concepts helps when intervening in cases with patients suffering from alcohol abuse disorder that also affects their physical health and daily functioning.
