Food and Nutrition
Food and nutrition provide energy on our bodies and need to be replaced every day to continue providing energy. The components of nutrition are water, fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. These components are essential in the body since it facilitates growth and development. People have different ways of preparing their food, depending on their cultures.
Meaning of food
Food plays a central role in all the cultures because the energy it provides is used in human resources. Natural foods are part of a healthy diet, including bodybuilding, energy-giving, and vitamins (Lanham-New et al., 2019). Bodybuilding food includes eggs, poultry, and meat; energy-giving food includes rice, wheat, and all grains and vitamin foods include fruits and vegetables.
Common Foods
Turkey for Thanksgiving and a cake for the wedding and birthday are common foods that most cultures share. For instance, in America, turkey is always prepared on Thanksgiving Day, and burritos and chicken are the most popular food. It has been the tradition of America since the early century.
Rituals
The availability of food is not sufficient in all the countries becomes most developing countries are suffering from poverty and famine. In January of every year in several developing countries, famine and drought strikes the countries, thus suffering from nutritional deficiencies due to lack of food.
Deficiencies
Iron deficiency anemia is the most common nutritional deficiencies since the blood cells need iron to support the supply of oxygen in the body. In other words, the body will not function well if the blood cells do not have enough iron. Low levels of vitamin B12 and C and folate are other deficiencies associated with nutrition.
Limitations
Malnutrition affects both developing and developed countries such as America because of the inadequate food supply while the demand is high. Although other countries are struggling with malnutrition, some people have obesity problems due to uncontrolled eating habits. Obese people do not have a good nutrition plan since they do not eat healthy food; instead, they take junk food.
Health Promotion
In some cultures, including the American culture, health is promoted when industries that produce healthy food will rise with one agenda of making America healthy. There are specific procedures and methods people use to ensure they have a balanced diet during the day. A healthy diet and exercising will keep America healthy.
High-Risk Behaviours
In today's cultures, stereotypes are not only about races but also includes the personality and behavior of individual people. For instance, in terms of behaviors, the Mexican and Russian cultures are said to be violent and have high-risk behavior. These behaviors include physical, substance abuse, and violence, which are mostly shown in adolescents. Adolescents encounter issues such as the tendency to be independent, adolescent pride, and experiencing crisis identification, thus being at a high risk of showing such behaviors. The sub-constructs of high-risk behaviors include tobacco, alcohol, recreational drugs, physical activity, and safety. Substance abuse such as tobacco, alcohol, and recreational drugs are significant problems in the world since they are abused by adolescents and young people aged 24 years and below account for 40 percent of the world's population (Cecil et al., 2018). These behaviors put individuals at risk of diseases, injuries, and death.
