Compliance in Nursing Home Activity
Compliance refers to the act of adhering to the regulations and rules following the organization’s standard practices. Healthcare compliance is vital for each clinical practitioner in a medical facility. In healthcare organizations, compliance is considered to be of vital importance in ensuring that various activities are effectively carried out within the facility. Healthcare compliance is important since healthcare practitioners need to execute and operate policy within the organization’s set rules. For instance, the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) did establish some standards to ensure that compliance is practiced in Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policy (Vanderpool, 2019).
Intermediate Care Facility
An intermediate care family (ICF) is essential in providing nursing services and support to the public through directions provided by a physician. The designation of ICF is to provide custodial care for the individuals unable to take care of themselves due to declining health or psychological disorders. However, ICF needs to comply with the rules set to ensure effective healthcare services are provided (Kvжl et al., 2019). For example, the ICF that deals with persons with intellectual disabilities (ID). In these facilities, Medicaid has been essential in various compliances needed to ensure that the State provides individualized and comprehensive rehabilitation and healthcare services to individuals to promote their functional status and independence.
The services provided in ICF/ID facilities involve providing intellectually disabled individuals with physical support, treatment, and psychological support. Another essential service provided by ICF/ID involves ensuring that the patients have proper nutrition by the appropriate interdisciplinary team. The ID individuals are provided with emotional support by the nurses to ensure that their mind remains composed to avoid things, such as suicidal ideation. The majority of the ICF/ID residents participate in vocational work and engage the community's interests of their choice in the daily programs. There are some activities involved in ICF/ID facilities associated with Medicaid coverage services that are available in a residential ICF/ID facility certified and licensed by the state survey agency. The services of the insurance body are only available when other payment alternatives are unavailable to the Medicaid-eligible patient. The staff members associated with ICF/ID facilities involve psychiatrists, general practitioners, and nurses. The medical cares provided in ICF/ID facilities involve providing appropriate treatment including drugs to manage the psychological conditions of the patients.
Skilled Nursing
A skilled nursing facility is a clinical treatment and an in-patient rehabilitation center with properly trained medical practitioners. The nurse professional needs to adhere to all information relevant to the compliance activities including nursing marketing efforts and billing records (Werner et al., 2019). The healthcare practitioners provide the necessary clinical services of speech pathologists, audiologists, and occupational and physical therapists. Skilled nursing care is fundamentally essential for rehabilitating patients that do not need long-term healthcare. The services provided are often temporary for solving a particular clinical requirement or allowing patient recovery outside a healthcare facility. However, there are many medical services provided in skilled nursing facilities. The services include custodial care, nutrition therapy, pulmonary rehab, speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. Various healthcare organizations provide skilled nursing services to the public to meet their in-patient medical requirements, such as injections, wound care, catheter care, and intravenous (IV) treatment.
