The stages of the natural history of the disease are subclinical disease stage; clinical disease stage; and stage of recovery, disability, or death. Shortly after the point of exposure, the subclinical disease stage commences. The pathological process begins, and changes occur within the body, often without the individual realizing it or demonstrating any symptoms. There are no clinical manifestations of the disease, although the infectious agent is already multiplying within the host's body (Jewell, 2016).
