Globally, nurses have become an integral part of the healthcare systems, and policymakers value their input. Most healthcare policies whose implementation affects the patients' welfare and the provision of services by the nurses are delivered through the private sector and government institutions. Nurses, therefore, should understand how policymaking affects their work keenly and must offer their input. Moreover, they should use the policymaking process in advancing their work safety when handling patients and improve the safety of the patients in the various healthcare institutions they work.
Nurses can use their knowledge, experience, perspectives, and skills to make a significant impact on patients’ welfare.
