In healthcare institutions, communication is an instrumental aspect as it helps connect the stakeholders to understand healthcare goals, challenges in the healthcare facilities, and mechanisms to overcome them. Healthcare facilities' success will also be measured by analyzing communication channels and providing feedback (Cha, 2023). Therefore, the management and employees in healthcare institutions have to communicate effectively and ensure a user-friendly communication channel is provided for the stakeholders. Healthcare facilities follow the following concepts for purposes of communication and management strategy.
Stakeholder Identification
When engaging in communication and developing a communication strategy, it is essential to identify all the necessary stakeholders in a healthcare facility. These stakeholders include the internal staff of the facility, healthcare providers such as insurance companies, patients being served in the organization, families of these patients, the surrounding community, and regulatory bodies (Johns, 2023). Involving the stakeholders is essential to ensure their opinions are implemented and there is no resistance to change.
Message Development
Communication involves sharing the right messages and information with the relevant stakeholders. Healthcare facilities need to ensure that they come up with clear information that is concise and also one that is compelling. Remember, it is through the messages that stakeholders will decide on the facility, hence the need for clarity and compelling messages (Johns, 2023). The message should also be goal-oriented, focusing on holistic healthcare services, the benefits of holistic healthcare, and how the stakeholders have a role to play. The tailored messages must be direct to meet the stakeholders' needs despite their diversities.
Communication Channels
Communication will only be successful with effective communication channels. Therefore, healthcare institutions need to know that to achieve a holistic healthcare service, communication channels have to be user-friendly. A strategy is to utilize a mix of different communication channels to use an available alternative when one finds a channel challenging. Healthcare facilities will use meetings and workshop channels (Johns, 2023). These have to be conducted in person, or virtual meetings will aid in faster communication for changes and getting needed feedback.
The second mix is an application of newsletters and emails. Healthcare facilities must ensure regular updates on holistic services and issue newsletters to stakeholders so they will be kept informed of new developments or progress. Social media also should be used because the majority, if not all, stakeholders have changed and embraced technology. They will be reached faster through social media platforms. It engages a broader audience when such communication channel mixes are used. Interestingly, healthcare facilities should refrain from direct communication.
Frequency of Communication
Holistic healthcare services when communicated once, will result in stakeholders forgetting about it. Therefore, there should be frequent communication by ensuring regular updates; when critical phases of the project are achieved; unexpected changes and urgent matters should be communicated in real-time to allow immediate reactions.
