Attend a committee meeting in your health care organization. If you are not currently employed in a health care setting, you may elect to attend a committee meeting at another company, a community center, a local school, local chamber of commerce or other professional organization.
Observe the interactions between committee members and the process used by the committee to arrive at decisions.
In 500-750 words, describe the function of the committee and the roles of those in attendance. Describe your observations of the interactions between members of the committee and determine whether the process used to arrive at decisions is a form of shared governance.

Planning and organizing of committee meetings in the health sector and getting the committee members to attend the meeting prove to be the easier aspect. The decision they are required to make regarding management of the health organization or encouragement of patient-centered approaches during the meeting proves to be the challenging bit. Shared Governance implies that two parties experienced in common. Collaborative decision-making requires the members of the committee to work hand in hand with management in a shared intellectual effort. This discussion shall highlight the process of decision making during committee meetings in a healthcare organization.
The meeting was aimed at deliberating on the collaborative decision-making in the administration of health care services. The chairs opened the discussion by introducing the concept of collaborative patient care and pointing out the potential it holds in the transformation of healthcare services in the organization (Frantsve, & Kerns, 2007). The chair had prepared a presentation on the topic hand thus equipping the committee members with the information they require to make an informed decision. The chair took discussion leader potential thus ensuring the discussion remains focused and effective (O’Grady& Jadad, 2010).
The objective of collaborative decision-making in the organization is to encourage engagement between physicians and patients thus resulting in the development of an optimal course of action.
