Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) consists of various practices incorporating cognitive and behavioral interventions aimed at mitigating, curing, or eliminating psychological distress. This distress draws from distorted ways of thought, which can often deteriorate into habits that require interventions to be reversed. CBT interventions often take the form of educational processes to inform the patient that their thoughts precede their actions and their emotional state, therefore determining their behavioral reactions (Beck, 2011). CBT effectively addresses psychological challenges such as anxiety, eating disorders, mood disorders, substance abuse, and relationship conflicts (Beck, 2005; Nathan & Gorman, 2007).
