Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity: First Draft
The practice of health care providers at all levels brings you into contact with people from a variety of faiths. This calls for knowledge and acceptance of a diversity of faith expressions.
The purpose of this paper is to complete a comparative analysis of two faith philosophies towards providing health care, one being the Christian perspective. For the second faith, choose a faith that is unfamiliar to you. Examples of faiths to choose from: Sikh, Baha'i, Buddhism, Shintoism, etc.
In a minimum of 1,500-2,000 words, provide a comparative analysis of the different belief systems, reinforcing major themes with insights gained from your research.
In your comparative analysis, address all of the worldview questions in detail for Christianity and your selected faith. Refer to chapter 2 of the Called to Care for the list of questions. Be sure to address the implications of these beliefs for health care.
In addition answer the following questions that address the practical and healthcare implications based on the research:
What are critical common components to all religions/beliefs in regards to healing, such as prayer, meditation, belief, etc.? Explain.
What is important to patients of the faiths when cared for by health care providers whose spiritual beliefs differ from their own?
In your conclusion, describe your own spiritual perspective on healing, what you have learned from the research and how this learning can be applied to a health care provider.
Support your position by referencing at least three academic resources (preferably from the GCU Library) in addition to the course readings, the Bible, and the textbooks for each religion. Each religion must have a primary source included. A total of six references are required according to the specifications listed above. Incorporate the research into your writing in an appropriate, scholarly manner.

On the other hand, the article will address the manner in which health care providers understand patients from different backgrounds within the Christina and Buddhist perspective.
However, to ensure that medical institutions achieve success, it is important for health care providers to consider the aspect of accommodation to the faiths and needs of patients irrespective of their religiosity and cultures. Consequently, this denotes the fact that religion and spirituality are essential ingredients in enhancing the process of care within an institution of health. Care providers are, therefore, obligated to respect different views, concerns, beliefs, and needs of patients on their religious theories within the health care sector, an aspect that denotes the primary objective of this paper.

Considering that health care providers encounter patient's from diverse backgrounds, it is important for care providers to familiarize themselves with the fundamental elements of these religions and cultures. In as much as achieving this goal may prove challenging, it is important for care providers to conduct inquiries from the patients, their friends, and families on matters faith and some of the essential aspects that need to be integrated into the process to achieve positive outcomes (Regan, 2014). Health care facilities and practitioners, therefore, need to ensure that effective approaches are incorporated to ensure that care is provided efficiently in consideration of the patient’s diversity.

Buddhism remains a religion that originated in the sixth century in India. The principles of this religion base its views on the faith and belief of Siddhartha Gautama regarded as Buddha. It is essential to note that the Buddhist consider living a simple life that revolves around the aspect of love, joy, and peace that comes from within an individual as was lived by their god. On the other hand, the teachings of the Buddhists are simplified with the aim of ensuring the followers of this religion commit to the right acts and ensuring that they mediate in developing an inner strength and peace that would guide them in doing no harm to an individual or others (Regan, 2014). In comparison to Christianity, it is important to consider that Christians believe in God who remains at the center of creating humanity and the universe, and who has the power to heal the sick. On the other hand, it is essential to consider that the existence of humanity begun from God when he created man. As compared to the Buddhist’s who believe in Siddhartha Gautama, Christians believe in God and his law and ensure that their actions are guided by this law, an aspect that differentiates them from pagans.
Meditation and visualization remain some of the essential attributes constituted by Buddhist’s in the process of healing, an aspect that is achieved through the singing and recitation of tunes while taking holy visions and images aimed at giving a patient an inner strength that would help in washing away negativities. On the other hand, the Buddhists also believe "lamas" remains another component in the healing process, and believe in blessing medicine and other medical procedures that are performed before treatment (Donohue, et.al.2010). Buddhist in comparison to Christian's is known for creating confidence among their followers through meditation, which they consider as an essential ingredient in enriching the lives of individuals and in healing. In contrast to this, it is important to note that Christians believe in the concept of prayer and meditation as well, an aspect that is considered as essential in giving believers the confidence that God remains the sole healer and can health when provoked through prayer.
Buddhist view life as an inevitable process that begins with birth and includes other aspects such as illnesses, aging, and death.
