Research has shown that breastfeeding is the best-recognized source of nutrition for infants. Support for breastfeeding needs reinforcement not only in hospitals but in different arenas. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) also affirmed that infants who are not breastfed experience health risks such as episode diarrhea, diabetes, obesity, and respiratory tract infections. To support breastfeeding mothers and increase breastfeeding awareness across the globe, the CDC encourages women and health care providers to undertake some initiatives.
Maternity care practice is a significant activity that influences breastfeeding initiation and later, infant feeding behavior. Maternity care practices include health-care written policy as well as training mothers before giving birth. CDC encourages all mothers to give birth in hospitals and stay for a while to receive one-hour breastfeeding initiated after birth (Feldman-Winter., 2017). I will support this initiative by encouraging pregnant women to visit health facilities after giving birth so that they do not miss chances to learn infant feeding cues as well as evidence-based breastfeeding practice.
