Descriptive Statistics
In the previous module, you found 3 resources for your area of research interest. For this third segment of the SLP, please find 2 more articles from professional journals. Save the articles, as you will use them in future modules.
In a 2-page paper,
1. Remind me of your research hypothesis.
2. Submit an annotated bibliography for each of the 2 articles. Be sure to include the following:
- Describe the source's use of descriptive statistical measures you learned about in this module.
- Describe the statistics used and how the researcher interprets them in relation to his/her study.
- Discuss how the findings in that article compare or contrast with the hypothesis you developed for your SLP area of research. In other words, does the article support help your hypothesis? Or contradict it? Please explain.
Use headings and subheadings to guide the flow of your paper. If you need a reminder about writing an annotated bibliography, review the link provided in SLP 1.

Quantitative Reasoning
Module 3 Study Long Project
Professor Dr. Sherry Grover
Introduction
The research hypothesis in the previous paper was in full support of the assertion that Genetically Modified Organisms has no effect on the health of its long term users. This conclusion was reached at after using several peer reviewed journals that had been published following researches carried out on these organisms, their composition and their effects. The paper had first of all argued for and against GMOs before coming up with a concluding inference, which showed that the negative effects outwitted the positive ones. In this paper, two more peer reviewed articles and journals will be selected and through their annotated bibliographies, establish an explanation of whether they support the previously deduced hypothesis or not.

Vendômois JS, Roullier F, Cellier D, Séralini GE. (2009). A Comparison of the Effects of Three GM Corn Varieties on Mammalian Health. Int J Biol Sci 2009; 5:706-726.
Vendômois, Roullier, Cellier & Séralini come up with a scholarly journal that tries to explicitly explain the use of GM and its effects on humanity. They have employed quantitative research methods to conduct their study, invoking the use of descriptive statistical measures. According to Trochim & Donnelly (2006), these methods are appropriate because they have been used to produce valid and reliable results. The specimens used in this case are rats. The writers subdivide the rats into three groups, with each group being fed on a different type of GM maize. The three types of maize samples which we are told from the journal are commercialized for human consumption across the world are, NK 603, MON 810 and MON 863. The research was carried out in three different laboratories and this as the authors state, was done so as not to mix on any of the specimens. The number of rats per laboratory was 450, both males and females in equal numbers. Just like most researches being conducted on such tests are done, this research was carried out in a comparative manner, comparing different groups of rats that had fed on the maize and those that had not. The main aim of this research carried out by Vendômois, Roullier, Cellier & Séralini was to “investigate possible subchronic toxicological effects of these GM cereals in mammals and humans. The research, which was conducted for 90 continuous days, used 80 different weight and biochemi...
