The outlined factors function to increase the cost of healthcare while also demanding the implementation of improved quality interventions to meet or address the emerging challenges in health services. Sustainable growth and development of health care systems and organizations call for the development and implementation of strategic measures or plans to address the uncertainties caused by the shifting demands in health services. Healthcare leaders have to come up with strategic plans for ensuring that they address both the existing and emerging challenges while also enhancing the organization’s sustainability. Among the challenges facing healthcare leaders include uncertainties over healthcare policies, increasing costs of healthcare, ethical issues, inadequate training and education of staff members, and emerging or advancing health information and medicinal technologies CITATION Tee18 \l 1033 (Teel, 2018). Strategic planning offering both short-term and long-term solutions for addressing the outlined challenges is necessary for helping healthcare leaders to achieve the desired outcomes in health services while also ensuring sustainability in healthcare systems. Provided herein are the short-term and long-term goals characterizing the strategic processes for addressing the outlined challenges facing healthcare leaders in the acute care setting.
Inadequate Training and Education
The rising cases of different chronic illnesses in today’s society call for the implementation of effective interventional measures to address the underlying factors influencing the emerging trend. While traditional nursing care interventions are vital to the diagnosis and treatment of such cases, reducing the cost of healthcare requires an approach that functions to address the lifestyle factors that expose individuals to the risk of diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular problems, and even hypertension CITATION Tee18 \l 1033 (Teel, 2018). It is, therefore, important to enhance the knowledge and skills of the acute care providers in the organization through a training and education program to enhance the knowledge and skills of care providers to educate and sensitize patients or clients on the importance of embracing healthy lifestyle habits CITATION Fig19 \l 1033 (Figueroa, 2019). The organization’s education program will be tasked with offering training and education to selected care providers. Training and education for selected care providers offer a short-term solution to the challenge of inadequate skills to address the emerging trend. Establishing a curricular in the organization’s nursing education programs offers a long-term solution to the problem as it keeps the organization updated on the emerging trends and subsequent countermeasures for the same. The training and education initiative targets 5% of the new nursing care recruits each year. The program will begin at the start of the new fiscal year starting January 1, 2020, under the budgetary allocation for the organization’s training and education program. It functions to reduce the cases of chronic health diseases in society and thus allowing the organization to deliver quality healthcare services.
Rising Costs of Healthcare
