Decision #1: Differential Diagnosis
The differential diagnosis in Carrie’s situation is Schizotypal Personality Disorder. This disorder involves an ingrained thinking pattern and unusual behaviors that include wearied beliefs and fears (Kirchner et al., 2018). People suffering from this disorder find it hard to make and maintain relationships. People with this disorder often exhibit funny feelings and beliefs of magics and have very few, if any, friends. Additionally, the patients feel nervous in the presence of strangers. Carrie has magical imaginations. She believes that she can control the minds of other people. She also has no friends, and she believes that she decides to stay without them. This is the reason I think that Carrie has a Schizotypal Personality Disorder.
I made this decision intending to give Carrie the appropriate treatment. Schizotypal Personality Disorder: Hazlet et al. (2015) published that the signs and symptoms of Schizotypal Personality Disorder are rapid and takes a maximum of six months to show fully. It is the reason I think it could be the underlying disorder, considering that the rest of the symptoms. I expected to achieve a robust recovery from this diagnosis, but Carrie has not yet recovered from the disease after the visits.
Decision #2: Treatment for psychotherapy
I recommend cognitive behavior therapy, CBT. I believe this is the best psychotherapy treatment plan because it helps change potentially harmful behaviors that may have developed when Carrie was growing up or as soon as she entered the adolescence stage (Fonseca-Pedrero et al., 2018). A therapist is a specialist who can change the thought process of a patient (Mehl et al., 2015). It will help Carrie change her behavior and mindset that she does not need to make friends.
