The issues associated with the aging population
The aging population issue is a growing concern in many countries around the universe. At least the average lifespan increases, and the number of persons over 65 steadily increases. This puts a strain on social services, health care, and other public services, as a growing population of elderly persons may need more resources than what is there or available (Kanasi & Jones, 2016). Moreso, old persons may face economic and social challenges due to their age, such as limited access to employment opportunities and difficulty maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The problems that subordinate to the aging population
The main problem associated with an aging population is the potential for an increased burden on social and healthcare services. As the elderly population grows, there is a need for increased resources to meet their needs, such as more nursing homes, more home care services, and more access to medical care (Kanasi & Jones, 2016). This can be a challenge for many countries with limited resources and can be compounded in developing countries. Also, older adults may struggle with seeking employment and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, further exacerbating the issue.
The stakeholders speaking on the matter of aging
The main stakeholders in addressing the main issue of the aging population are administrations, health care providers, and the elderly population itself. Finally, the solution to aging population issues needs a multi-pronged approach from stakeholders (Kanasi & Jones, 2016). The administration must ensure that necessary resources are available to meet the needs of the elderly population, while healthcare providers must ensure that they are providing the appropriate care.
