1 To what extent is primary care accessible to all populations in this country?
In the United States, primary care is available to everyone. Primary care is provided by physicians, internists, and nurses. Primary care is normally associated with positive health outcomes.
2 What are the main barriers to accessing primary care?
When accessing primary care there are a lot of disparities and people experience barriers due to reduced access to services. Some of these barriers include lack of health insurance which decreases the use of primary care services. This results in poor health outcomes. The next barrier is language-related barriers (Weinstein, et.al). For example, ethnic groups whose main language is not English may sometimes fail to seek medical attention from hospitals. The shortage of healthcare providers is another barrier that can limit access to primary care. Additionally, transportation-related barriers can limit people to access primary care. Individuals living in remote areas have few healthcare providers and this might limit their access to primary care.
3 What is being done to solve this problem?
To solve these problems, healthcare organizations must ensure they have a diverse workforce. This will enable people from different ethnic groups to access primary care (Weinstein, et.al).
