Introduction
An integrated Delivery System (IDS) is simply the description of an organization that focuses on providing a continuum of healthcare services. In its nature as a setup of healthcare amenities under one central holding firm, an IDS utilizes incentives and resources much better than most of the healthcare provision systems in place (Psek et al., 2015). This phenomenon enhances the cost efficiency of the Integrated Development Systems and, in turn, improves the quality of medical care. Since it is a system that maximizes the available resources without incurring huge expenses, the government can implement it to improve the quality of healthcare while reducing the cost. There are two types of IDS, namely vertical and horizontal. Therefore, this paper aims to discuss the benefits that come along with the implementation of both types of IDS.
Benefits of IDS's
Improved Pharmaceutical Management.
The presence of an Integrated Development System greatly reduces the chances of a medication error from occurring. A medical care facility that lacks an IDS is vulnerable to duplication and over-prescription of drugs to the patients and polypharmacy. The repeated occurrence of the above events could potentially translate to a rise in the overall cost, which would reduce the organization's profit margins and jeopardize the safety of the patients (Al-Saddique, 2018). The challenge mentioned above can be solved by implementing an Integrated Delivery system as it would provide a unified formula for handling these tasks.
