Reflection on Course Experience Student’s Name Institution Course Number and Name Instructor’s Name Date Reflection on Course Experience The course has offered me important leadership skills that are bound to impact how lead my personal and professional life. Finding Your Truth North: A Personal Guide by George et al. (2008) is a valuable book that can help one discover and develop their leadership skills. The book presents a genuine way through which one can rediscover their values and principles as one moves toward becoming an authentic leader. As I read through the book and attempted the exercises, I understood myself more, and now I'm better equipped to lead. New Discoveries about my Leadership Skills and Styles The course and the book have helped me discover important aspects of my leadership skills that I was not aware of before. One such aspect is that I am motivated by the desire to help people, which I excel at. While I am naturally drawn to people and tend to interact with many people, I have never before thought about why that is the case. In my interactions with people, I listen actively and offer guidance I deem most appropriate in the situation. I have therefore learned that helping others is a key part of my leadership style. In this sense, I succeed at helping other people find themselves and solutions to their challenges. I have also discovered that I need to improve on making difficult decisions. A necessary part of being a leader is the ability to make difficult decisions. As informed by Carucci (2022), when extensive repercussions are at stake, it can be difficult to make decisions. I have learned that I lack the courage required to make tough decisions, especially when they involve other people. This is, therefore, an area that I need to improve on if I have to become a more effective leader.
