A higher education degree is important as it imparts two key values; responsibility and self-discipline. Supervisors and professors give assistance and guidance, but the value of success must come from within yourself. Working on projects and theses requires a level of self-discipline and responsibility, otherwise not expected in other levels of education. Self-discipline is self-correction or self-regulation that a person undertakes to do for them to improve. In this case, any act of regulating yourself to achieve better academically is self-discipline. Responsibility connotes an ability to discern what is right and wrong and do what is necessary. Responsibility and self-discipline work together as they both require you to regulate your behavior.
An example is with a high school level education. Teachers in high school are molding young minds to become the future of society. As a result, high school teachers will be strict and in tune with the students to ensure that they get as much education and acquire values along the way.
