Social Justice Audit: Organizational Practices and Culture Presentation

Essay Instructions:
Organizations use social justice audits to identify areas where they may perpetuate biases or discrimination, intentionally or unintentionally. This information can then be used to develop strategies to address these issues and create a more inclusive and equitable workplace. In this assignment, you will design and record a 4- to 6-minute narrated presentation (not including title and reference slides) for executive leadership. Your presentation will encapsulate the findings of your social justice audit. Step 1 Review the course readings and video presentations and conduct additional research using the ACE LibraryLinks to an external site.. Focus on organizational practices, culture, and the interplay between social justice, ethics, and bodies (physical appearances, abilities, sensations, emotions, and behaviors). Step 2 Analyze how these various elements and dimensions of your organization influence and are influenced by policies, practices, people, and culture. Use the following questions to guide your thinking: How do current workplace practices reflect your organization’s commitment to social justice? In what ways might people within your organization contribute to or hinder social justice? What role does organizational culture play in promoting or obstructing social justice? How can social justice frameworks be applied to improve organizational practices and culture? Step 3 Select a digital tool to create your narrated presentation with supporting slides or other visuals. See potential presentation tools in the ACE Digital Tools Center. Create slides or other visuals to present the information you developed. Support your slides with APA-formatted in-text citations as evidence. Use the following outline to guide your presentation design: Title slide Introduction: Highlight the relevance of social justice in organizational culture (Modules 6-8). Context: Summarize your organization’s background (Modules 1-8). Methodology: Explain the audit process and data collected for your organization (Modules 6 and 7). Policies review: Highlight points from your organization’s social justice issues, policies, and initiatives (Module 6). Stakeholder analysis: Highlight points connecting stakeholders and your organization’s issues, policies, and initiatives (Module 7). Historical/systemic injustice: Highlight relevant historical or systemic issues (Module 7). Current practices and culture assessment: Include research from Steps 1 and 2 of this module’s assignment. Social justice frameworks: Explain relevant frameworks and how they apply to the audit (Modules 6-8). Need for change: Establish a preliminary change vision statement for the organization’s social justice practices (Modules 1-8). References A best practice is to compose a script or talking points to use while recording the narration. Practice your presentation and then record it. Step 4 Submit your audiovisual presentation using the appropriate assignment submission type (i.e., File Upload or Text Entry) for your product. (ACE recommends Kaltura for submitting video assignments regardless of the recording tool.) I will do the slide and record video. As a result, leaders consistently find approaches for transforming and strengthening their cultures into ones that recognize and uphold the value of social justice through routine aspects such as inclusivity, diversity, and equality (Lowery, 2019). They understand that such elements determine the sustainability and progress of their institutions. Context This social justice audit focuses on American Express and its capacity to advance strategies that reflect such principles. The company has demonstrated its commitment to achieving these elements through its ‘blue box’ core values, formulated for influencing the development of a progressive ethical culture (American Express, 2024). It also prioritizes ongoing advocacy to unearth stagnating areas that require improvements to remain updated with social justice needs. Thus, these efforts confirm the company’s recognition of social justice as a fundamental component and its determination to embed it into its culture. Methodology The audit process comprised a review of American Express through a comprehensive SWOT analysis and evaluation of the stakeholders’ impact. The two processes unveiled critical data highlighting the strengths and opportunities while also flagging the weaknesses and threats for leadership to address (American Express, 2024). The findings revealed the affected stakeholders and the related social injustices likely to arise from the identified shortcomings. Such a pro...
