Reading and Understanding through Story Books and Online Stories
Grade 3
Select grade section in chapter 4 to reflect the grade you are teaching or interested in teaching.
Within the grade you selected, select a topic to write a lesson plan with all the components in the template included.
When creating your lesson plans, think about your role as the educator. You should model the expectations of the lesson after you teach a skill. By asking a question, you are not modeling. You should show step by step using one set of materials and then when asking the students to complete their tasks, they should have a different book or different materials to apply what you modeled, but not copy. In the mini-lesson, teachers should be modeling a skill or showing a new strategy to apply later. During independent work or small-group time, students will reflect on what you showed them and apply it to their task. Since they saw your modeling, they can apply what you showed them in the mini-lesson.
