Personal Teaching Philosophy Reflection

Essay Instructions:

Assessment Description

Reflective practice is crucial in education and becomes the foundation for ongoing growth and development as a professional. By this phase in the student teaching experience, you have analyzed how your teaching performance and practice affects student learning. You now have the opportunity to reflect on how you plan to continue growing in your practice and how to utilize school/district, academic, and personal resources to help you continue to grow as a professional educator.

For this assignment, you will create a 2-3 minute video of yourself describing your role as a teacher candidate who embodies the College of Education’s philosophy to learn, lead, and serve.

In the video, include the following:

How your teaching philosophy has developed and grown throughout student teaching.

How technology can be used to create better learning opportunities for all students.

How you will implement the Christian worldview values of compassion, promoting human flourishing, and behaving legally and ethically in your future classroom. (Feel free to add additional Christian worldview values you would like to integrate, as well.)

Remember, video and audio quality are important and should be taken into consideration. Be sure your video is filmed with sufficient lighting, and the volume is adequate for viewers to hear. Intonation, expression, proper speech, and professional attire are expected.

Use an online video platform such as Loom, YouTube, or Vimeo to upload your completed video. Be sure that others can access and view your linked video prior to submitting.

If you upload your video to YouTube, select the “unlisted” option.

APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.

Include the video and the reflection in your “Professional Teaching Portfolio” under the section "Teaching Resume and Statements."

This includes prioritizing desirable outcomes such as academic excellence and the emotional and social well-being of the learners. A teacher-centered philosophy will guarantee exposure to key insights that influence desired professional growth and success and the realization of intended objectives such as student learning and excellence. As a teacher, I have learned that technology is rapidly evolving and can be used to enhance learning outcomes. For example, the learners are currently exposed to a wide range of instructional materials that go beyond print, including handouts, textbooks, and study guides to include visual and audiovisual materials, including slides, multimedia, charts, and photographs, and computers. Achieving my objectives as a teacher includes reliance on technology such as audiovisuals that are considered influential in learning outcomes. This can be tied to the famous claim that a picture is worth a thousand words, and learners are more likely to remember engaging and interactive class that incorporates visual aids such as slides to illustrate key concepts. One of our primary objectives as teachers is to ensure our practice embodies learning, leading, and serving, as highlighted earlier. Technology will help achieve this.
My teaching philosophy has developed and grown throughout student teaching. At the moment, I understand that a collaborative environment influence...
