How does your organization promote diversity and corporate social responsibility in professional development?
In this assignment, you will develop a concept map and a 2-page summary showing professional development opportunities at your organization. You will analyze how they address corporate social responsibility and/or DEI. You will discuss how they meet 21st-century organizational challenges and identify gaps and opportunity areas.
Choose the same organization you analyzed in the Module 2 assignment.
Step 1
Research your organization’s professional development opportunities related to diversity and corporate social responsibility (e.g., DEI training, sustainability workshops). Analyze the professional development through a framework or theory of your choice. For example, you could use the triple-bottom-line framework or apply transformational leadership theory.
Discuss how the professional development opportunities meet 21st-century organizational challenges. Identify gaps and opportunity areas for professional development.
Do not disclose the names of organizations or individuals.

Connect your research findings to evidence that supports the types of professional development you found or identified as missing and needed.

Summarize your findings from the concept map in an APA-formatted, 2-page essay.
Step 5

Professional Development Analysis
The learning institution proves its professional dedication to responding to current global problems, such as diversity and corporate social responsibility, through its professional development programs. According to the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats analysis based on the triple bottom line, it is determined that there are many strengths and few threats (Lund, 2022). Environmental, social and economic sustainability are catered for in the opportunities offered by the institution in relation to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. However, limitations are observed in relation to practical experience, interdisciplinary projects, and community experiences (Lund, 2022). Filling these gaps and expanding upon the institution’s existing signature areas of strength will help to strengthen professional development and prepare learners for the challenges of the era in the way of enhancing diversity and corporate social responsibility.
Environmental Sustainability
The institution provides training sessions on the aspects of carbon footprint reduction, the use of recycling bins, and implementing sustainability in the course. These initiatives correlate with thirteen (13) and twelve (12) United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (Somerville et al., 2019). It involves work-shops where ideas on how to decrease one’s impact on the environment and how to teach sustainably are demonstrated. However, there is an exception as far as practical experience is concerned: Students rarely get any chance to practice what they have learned (Somerville et al., 2019). Practical application of the knowledge in these areas can be enlarged by using real case studies or project activities within the training, which would enhance the actual implementation of the environmental sustainability training after the participants’ reintegration into their positions.
Social Sustainability
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training, cultural competency training, and other awareness programs are core areas of social sustainability.
