Mental health is the state of psychological wellness that empowers individuals to cope with stressors in their day-to-day experiences, feel confident about their abilities, work and learn competently, and contribute meaningfully to their communities (Kumar & Dash, 2020). Research shows that at least 80% of dental health care workers (DHCWs) in the United States reported being anxious concerning COVID-19 infection and the future of their profession (Eldridge et al., 2022). A literature gap exists in the prevalence of depressive and anxiety symptoms among DHCWs in the United States before and during the COVID-19 pandemic (Eldridge et al., 2022), and this could undermine the ability for researchers to explore mental health challenges affecting dentists and dental hygienists.





PROBLEM STATEMENT
