 I researched Jamila and Julianna's response to my post as we shared a similar situation. Julianne and I had the same problem when we were still young and were using SEE. I did not identify as a deaf person till now. I was raised in a hearing world by interacting with normal hearing friends because I could lip-read. I wish my parents had put me in a deaf school instead of an oral and mainstream learning institution. In the 1960s, the school was banned from using sign language until the 1970s.
