Lennick et al. (2011) furthered this concept in their discussion of company leaders who have demonstrated what they refer to as “moral stupidity,” while others have exhibited moral intelligence. What have been your experiences in toxic versus healthy organizations? Specifically, what was the difference in the communication employed?

I encountered a scenario where I noticed indicators of a toxic work environment between an employer and employee, which could be attributable to the employer. Briscoe (2022) claims managers prioritize their needs and the company's interests above all else. My employer's moral character was poor. He manipulated financial statements, engaged in insider trading, and hidden losses in off-balance sheet enterprises while decreasing costs that affected employees. Moral ignorance undermined confidence, creating a hostile workplace. Leaders ignored transparency and minimized the consequences of incorrect communication. The use of false claims and a lack of duty to steadily uncover ethical violations fostered suspicion and dread in followers.
In contrast, a morally intelligent employer prioritizes employee well-being, honesty, respect, and justice. Villirilli (2021) states that their duties follow values and principles widely recognized as providing a solid foundation for societal well-being.
